On the 25th and 26th May, Soabar took its expertise, services and  label printing machines to the Truman’s Brewery, London to take part in Meet the Manufacturer 2016. Joining forces with 150 other exhibitors specialising in clothing, textiles and leather goods, we proudly showcased the large selection of labels and machines we have to offer. This includes the new T2+ thermal printer which launched this month.

Meet the Manufacturer proudly labels(!) itself as “˜the only sourcing event exclusively showcasing British manufacturers and producers’, and this year attracted a record breaking number of visitors. We loved having the chance to talk to potential new customers and to catch up with existing ones. Over the course of the two days we counted that 7 of the exhibiting stands are current customers who have either labels or machines supplied by us.

Soabar are proud to exhibit at an event which helps to support the continuation of  independent manufacturers across the UK. We feel that sourcing materials and manufacturing locally is an ethical and sustainable business model that is essential to ensuring high quality products for consumers. Over the course of the two days, we enjoyed speaking to other businesses who share this ethos, as well as learning about what the benefits are of manufacturing in the United Kingdom. Less than 5% of our business is directed overseas, meaning that Soabar place a large emMeet the Manufacturerphasis on supporting local producers.

Jon, Phil and Emma were hard at work informing visitors about the services and products that Soabar can offer, as well as answering any questions that they had. They were on the stand from 9am-6pm both days giving out Soabar goody bags, filled to the brim with leaflets, rulers, pens and label samples. Our aim was to ensure that visitors went away satisfied and with a sufficient amount of information about the services that we offer. Throughout the exhibition there were workshops held which attracted numbers of up to 900 people. These focused on topic areas such as “˜taking your British brand overseas’ and successfully developing your brand for a global market. Additionally, Mary Portas teamed up with “˜Make It British’ to bring a “˜Mary’s Living & Giving’ pop-up space to this year’s event.

Overall, Meet the Manufacturer 2016 was a great event that presented a variety of exciting opportunities to not only us, but also to other smaller businesses based in the United Kingdom. Located in central London at the heart of British manufacturing, it was conducted in a friendly environment that allowed for ample opportunity to talk to visitors about any of their label printing and machinery queries.
